There are two things in life I wish I was really good at: Singing a note and taking a photo. Don’t get me wrong; I can hold my own with a camera when I need to…but it doesn’t come easy. I struggle, fight, and then just pray that the photos I took look good when I dump them onto the computer.
So last year, when we decided to take all four kids to Nova Scotia, I used a new (to me) company to create share-worthy photos. It’s called Flytographer. (Use this code and get a $25 credit!)
You sign up online for a photo shoot in the city you are visiting…you pick the package you want…and they pair you with a vetted local photog.
Our photographer was wonderful. She asked about the types of photos we wanted, whether we wanted staged or candids (we picked a mix) and what type of place we were looking for. Then, she scoped out her spots and sent us to a little-known but LOVELY place for the shoot. Remember, she’s a local (aka expert) and her insight alone was worth the cost.
But, oh those photos.
I love every one of them. We created a Blurb book that sits on the coffee table and reminds me everyday of what a great trip that was.
You don’t have to be in another country to do this, either. I’m contemplating it for our trip to NYC next month. There are services here in Atlanta, Charleston, Nashville, Savannah, Wilmington, and more.

After 18 years in software development, Lesli bailed on the corporate scene. When she’s not traveling, she’s hiking in the mountains or checking out Atlanta’s culinary scene, whiskey in hand.
Lesli has two kiddos -Cooper and Elliot- plus two bonus kids currently at UGA, and she’s happily married to her soul mate.
