Get Fit; Not Bored: 3 Unique Ways To Work Out

I love hiking and biking to stay fit, but I can’t always make my way to the mountains. So, I tried a few gym classes, crossfit sessions, etc. I attend for a few days, and then I quit. Why? Because I am so flippin’ bored in those classes!

Anyone else?

So I decided to try a few unique ways to work out. Here’s what I’ve found – I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of these or have new ideas to add to the list!

This is not me. lol.

Aerial Silks. This is the first one I tackled on this list, and I LOVE it!! There are several places to try this in Atlanta, and I picked Inspire Aerial Arts in Midtown. I recommend it VERY much….the instructor was so kind and understanding, and she made a whole class of first-timers feel comfortable and at ease.

In the first class we learned how to go upside down, spin, strike several poses, and feel graceful like a bird. She even took time at the end of the class for all of us to take pictures of each other in upside down poses!

I get car sick very very easily, and I am guessing that is why I got a little woozy with the spinning, but she told me that the spinning is completely optional.

Pole Dancing. This is my next adventure, and I’m most nervous about it. I’m heading to Poleateaz in Brookhaven (there is another in Alpharetta.) It’s called “sensual dancing” here – which includes pole dancing, “sultry chair”, and “floorplay.”

I also love how they have a few other classes to tone you and make the “sexy” classes easier – row & sculpt, buti yoga, barre burn, and the like.

Belly Dancing. It has been over 25 years since I’ve tried this, so I’m afraid different things are going to shake when I attend this class – but I did convince Sue to try it with me. We;re heading to Belly Dance Atlanta in Buckhead, but they have 2 other locations also.

They teach a class for those using belly dancing as a workout, and a different class for those who are truly looking to learn the techniques.
