5 Things to Do in Dunwoody on a Family Staycation

Dunwoody is a great place for a family staycation – one that is safe and still FUN for everyone!

5 Things to Do in Dunwoody on a Family Staycation

Splash in the Marriott Pool

If you’re ready to head to Dunwoody for a fun weekend getaway, we recommend calling the Marriott Perimeter Center home base for your holiday.

Recently renovated, you’ll love the spacious rooms…and the kids will love the pools. Soak up some vitamin D in the outdoor pool…and when you need a break from the sun, continue the fun at the indoor pool.

Right now, the restaurant and bar is closed…but you’re not too far away from Perimeter Mall, with dozens of dining options to select from!

When you reserve your room, ask about the Atlanta Zoo Package. It includes the following:

  • Deluxe Tower accommodations for up to four guests
  • Complimentary overnight parking
  • Complimentary wifi
  • One hundred dollar gift card good for ticket purchases to Zoo Atlanta

With a gift card (instead of tickets) you’re set to continue exploring Dunwoody for your staycation, and save your zoo adventure for another day of your choosing!

If you’re visiting without the kids, be sure to request the Weekender Brunch Package, with a $50 Perimeter Mall gift certificate and Sunday brunch for two at the Hob Nob Local Tavern ($75 value).

Climb High at Treetop Quest

Treetop Quest is a self-guided rope and zip-lining adventure that is LOADS of fun! Be sure to make a reservation before you go – you won’t regret it.

For kiddos ages 4-6 years, sign up for KiddieQuest, a super ropes course that will challenge them without being scary.

Hike and Climb at Dunwoody Nature Center

Dunwoody Nature Center is a FREE nature center, and one of our favorites in Georgia. Explore the treehouse, find the teepee (and nearby geocache), walk the boardwalk in the wetlands, and hang out at what we call the finest playground in the country!

And yes, we know it’s hot. So wear your swim trunks (or some old clothes) and be sure to go for splash in Wildcat Creek.

Take a Mural Hunt at Spruill Art Center

If you’ve lived near Atlanta for any length of time, you know this mural. It’s been bringing positivity to residents for over a decade, and you can visit it!

Head over to Spruill Arts Center, where you’ll find it on the old seed house sitting on the art center property.

While classes and shows are on hiatus now, you are welcome to pop into the gift shop to pick up a treasure commemorating your staycation.

Chow Down on a Burger

If you ask us, Dunwoody is home to the best burgers around. Your only problem will be deciding where to eat (or where to eat first).

The crowd favorite and our top pick would be Village Burger. Don’t skip the cheese in all its ooey-gooey yumminess. Usually, when a place offers onion rings I jump on the possibilities….but the fries here above reproach and I never drive by without stopping for them.

Farm Burger is another delicious option you can feel good about. FB burgers are made with antibiotic -free and hormone-free meats.

NFA Burger is Not Fooling Around and the burger reflects this. And it is so perfect for that potato roll. Get it with the sassy tots and homemade Fanta Fozen Orange.

Finally, grab a stack at Shake Shack in Perimeter mall. Match it with cheese fries and a shake for the perfect indulgence.
