Whether you are an avid skier, looking to learn, or just want to play in the snow, Beech Mountain Ski Resort is a perfect ‘snow’cation. And best of all it’s drivable from most major cities in the Southeast. So don’t think you have to head out west for snow much fun, here are 10 reasons to book a winter vacation to Beech Mountain Ski Resort.
Beech Mountain Ski Resort is the highest resort on the east coast, scraping the sky at 5,506 feet, which means that even when you don’t see snow in the valley, you’ll see the white stuff on the mountain.
Lines that Move
New for the 2018 ski season, Beech Mountain Resort is adding two new quad chairlifts to move guests up and down the mountain faster, so you’ll spend more time skiing and less time waiting.
In addition to the quads, Beech has added 53 new light towers with over 100 new slope lights – allowing for extended night skiing.
The Terrain Park
The Beech Terrain Park Crew is constantly re-shaping, re-inventing, and pulling from their inventory of more than 50 features to make sure riders always have something new to check out. Best of all you can hone your freestyle skills away from the skier traffic.
And when mother nature just won’t cooperate, Beech has added four new Super Puma snow making machines to produce more snow.
First timer? Don’t have cold weather clothing? No worries, Beech Mountain not only rents ski equipment, they also rent ski pants and coats. So you’ll have to find another excuse besides I don’t have ski clothes.
Not into skiing? There is plenty to do off the slopes too. Our favorite is the new winter music series. Trust me, you won’t want to miss this special line-up at the Brewhouse in the Resort Village. Best of all, most of the concerts are FREE, no tickets required (There are six ticketed headliner shows but the other 19 concerts are absolutely free!)
Before you start tasting brews at the Brewhouse, take a spin around the 7000 square foot ice skating rink. Kids four and under skate free with an adult.
You don’t have to be a kid to enjoy the state-of-the-art tubing park with 700 foot long runs. The park is adjacent to the Alpine Village at the base of Beech Mountain ski resort, a great location that provides for 700 foot long tubing runs, and offers convenient access to ice skating, shopping, dining and the rest of the fun in the Alpine Village.
Retro 80’s Weekend
Remember the movie Hot Tub Time Machine? This is Beech Mountain’s ski slope time machine. The righteously rad celebration of all things ‘80s happens each February at Beech Mountain Ski Resort and throughout the Town of Beech Mountain. Expect live ’80s music nightly, retro skiing daily, and plenty of throwback activities in between. Revisit the New Wave era of big hair, leg warmers, and Members Only jackets. It’s like totally tubular. The 2019 event will be held February 21 – 24.
