5 Ways to Take In an Incredible Canoe Trip at Chattahoochee Nature Center

Exercise..fresh air…time in nature…there is nothing quite like a canoe trip.

A gentle paddle along the Chattahoochee will reduce your stress levels, for sure, but it is also a great way to explore something new while spending time with people you love– on a date night, girlfriends’ adventure, or with you entire family.

Canoe trips with the Chattahoochee Nature Center are a great place to start. You’ll take your adventure with a Guided Naturalist who will share with you great tidbits about the flora, fauna, and history of the river.

When I went this week, our guide pointed out a wild Bald Eagle, which I would normally have mistaken for a common hawk…I loved having an expert on our adventure.

You don’t have to be a pro at canoeing. This is great for experienced paddlers and newbies, alike. CNC provides the instruction, along with the canoe, paddles and pfd (live jacket).

I think one of my favorite date nights of all time was an autumn paddle with just me and hubby, taking in the cool breeze and changing colors. I’d love to do it with him again sometime, on their sunset paddle tour.

Here are five ways you and your loved ones can experience this peaceful, relaxing and FUN water adventure.

Date Night Canoeing

As I mentioned, this was one of my most memorable day time date experiences. There is no drinking allowed, but the entire crowd is 21+, and it’s made even better by bringing a picnic to enjoy beforehand.

Family Canoeing

The general canoe trips require your kiddo to be 6yo or older, but kids as young as 5yo can enjoy the water on family Canoeing days. Rather than set a course down river, you’ll experience canoeing on the pond at CNC (that way, if they get scared or nervous or antsy, finding your way to shore early is not an issue.) These trips are about an hour shorter than the general trips, too.

If your kids are younger or have never been on the water, this is a great way to start.

General Public Canoeing

This is perfect for families that have older kids or who have experience on the water. You can also join a general canoe trip as a date night option, with the girls, or for a special occasion.

The trips are held on weekends, last about 2.5 hours, and are a world of fun!

Holiday and Seasonal Canoeing

This is where the fall colors row comes in, that I mentioned I did with hubby several years ago. There are limited opportunities here, so be sure to sign up for the CNC Newsletter and follow them on Facebook. As soon as they announce these special trips, you have to jump on the reservation! Worth every moment!!

Private Canoe Experience

This would make a super birthday party experience, family reunion outing, scouting opportunity…if you want to go out in a private group tour, this is a great option.

Disclosure: Thank you to CNC for the canoe trip opportunity. Opinions here are my own.
