Colletta’s Sunday Supper Is Just What Every Family Needs

Colletta is one of my favorite restaurants on the north side side of town. It’s a place that feels like home…not because I’m family or know anyone who works there. It’s the food…the warmth…the experience that makes it feel like home.

Colletta's Sunday Supper Is Just What Every Family Needs

Colletta means ‘collection’ in Italian, which is the perfect way to describe the menu. Diners select from antipasti, pizza, pasta or piatti which are hearty main dishes.

But what is this Sunday Supper thing?

You know the scene…it’s early Sunday morning in a traditional Italian home. The adults are gathered in the kitchen cooking pasta, chicken, meatballs, pizza…all the while the wine is pouring and the conversation is buzzing!

Three hours later, four generations are gathered around the table stuffing their faces. There are smiles…no one is on a device…and even Aunt Betty is happy. THIS IS SUNDAY SUPPER….the hard way.

Now imagine a table of delicious Italian food…more than you could imagine. The wine is flowing, the conversation is on point. The smiles are there…but Aunt Betty is at home….no one had to slave in the kitchen…and no one has to clean up. THIS IS SUNDAY SUPPER DONE RIGHT!

Everyday of the week, you can select the Chef’s Special from the menu…three courses, selected by the chef, served family-style for everyone at the table for $50 per person.

But on Sunday’s…the Chef’s Special is only $35 per person…a steal!

Our family of 4 savored 4 appetizers….4 main entrees…and a dessert sampler for the table. So much food. So affordable.

Hubs and Elliot – aghast at how amazing the desserts were!!!

Some of our favorites?

So glad you asked!

The boys chowed on a pepperoni pizza, which we happen to think is the best pizza in town. Other appetizers included their world famous meatballs in polenta. OK, are they really world famous? Maybe not; but they should be.

My other favorite was the burrata. It’s always my favorite at Colletta…but now it’s being topped with decadent butternut squash and red onions.

For mains, I was glad the Tagliatelle with pork tessa made it to the table…that’s my go-to selection. But we also had a chance to try the Farfalle with shrimp and lump crab, and the Cab Short Ribs. Do not ask me to choose a favorite there…I just can’t do it!

Finally, for desserts – the Pumpkin Spice Budino with maple whipped cream was my ultimate fave…Elliot loved the Vanilla Gelato, and Cooper was king of the Warm Chocolate Truffle Cake.

MY SUGGESTION: Run – don’t walk – to Colletta this Sunday! Enjoy a hearty Italian dinner affordably. No cooking…no dishes…

Just food…fun…family…and leftovers!

Disclosure: Thanks to Colletta for inviting us to be a part of their family last Sunday. Options here are all our own – always. If you’ve been with us for a second, you know Colletta has always been one of our faves!
